Creativity is often found in unexpected places – in the hearts of children whose talent overcomes their physical challenges, in the hands of women who use their traditional skills and their sense of beauty to lift their families out of poverty; in the courage of rural and village artisans who struggle against seemingly insurmountable odds to keep their traditional handicrafts alive.

The Mehrangarh Museum Trust works to support local craftspersons in a number of ways. A Crafts Bazaar in the Fort, next to the Museum Shop, gives a rotating group of fine artisans space to demonstrate their skills and to interact directly with their customers. The Museum Shop also stocks products from a number of dedicated organisations working with these special groups.

Overcoming grave physical and mental challenges, the children of Umang in Jaipur produce paper products whose light-hearted ebullience clearly shows the joy and courage in the hearts of these very special kids. The Museum Shop is happy to support Umang and all its young artists. Products from other special groups will be added in the future.
